A PEEP INTO THE PAST

Live events are virtually any gathering intended to bring people together for a shared experience. And the graphics help enhance the importance of these events. They set a mood and can be magical.

To study the kind of mood created by the graphics, I had to dig out the communication material of the past convocations. This helped me get an idea of what has been done and what more and different can I create.

NID in itself is a very inspiring. Every year, any one feature about NID is taken as inspiration. The reflection of this is hence found in the visual language developed.
This identity designed for the 23rd convocation in 2002 was inspired from the architecture of NID. And had sparks oozing out from it, symbolising the students convocating.

This was the invitation card designed for the 24th convocation, held in 2003. Here the flying elements symbolised the students who have now developed wings and are let out by the institute, ready to take off and reach new heights.

The 25th Convocation, held in 2005, was a very special one for NID, as NID was privileged to have His Excellency, The President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam as the Chief Guest and the Convocation Speaker.
The Identity develop for this convocation was a very special one. It had the number 25 written in a very strong movement, inspired by the working system at NID. The brush strokes created a very vibrant effect.

The theme for the 28th convocation, 2007 was ‘ The Fourth Dimension’. All the communication material had an angled cut, suggesting that the students have emerged out of this institute, and extended themselves to a totally different dimension.

I REALISED.....all the past convocations at NID had a very colourful visual language. What it needed was something that stood out from the rest... something that distinguishes this convocation from the previous ones. The students deserved to be given more importance.
